Minimum Requirements

Matric/Grade 12 or higher plus a National Diploma in Fire Technology (NQF Level 6)

6 years operational experience in the field (2 years at Community Educator level)

NFPA Certifications:
- 1001 Firefighter 1 & 2
- 472 Hazmat Awareness and Operational
- 10-35 Fire and Life Safety Educator 1 & 2

First Aid Level III
-
Valid Code B driver’s license
-
No criminal record
Primary Function
Responsible for managing, coordinating, organizing, and overseeing the delivery of public information services intended to educate and inform the public on fire and life safety, using media and communication networks to reduce fatalities and injuries.
Key Performance Areas
- Disseminate information to the public and within the department
- Promote emergency medical management via campaigns and training
- Administer and schedule B.E.S.A.F.E training
- Participate in major incidents
- Raise awareness of EMS services
